COURSE CURRICULUM

The BS Biology Pre-Pharmacy concentration curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong scientific and healthcare-focused foundation that prepares them for admission to pharmacy schools and related professional programs. During the first two semesters, students study Biological Diversity, laboratory sciences, and introductory courses in molecules, cells, and genes, along with recitation sessions that strengthen their understanding of fundamental biological concepts and laboratory skills. In semesters three and four, students continue with Ecology and Field Biology or Marine Biology, Experimental Design, and Genetics with laboratory components, allowing them to develop scientific reasoning, research abilities, and analytical skills through practical and theoretical training. During semesters five and six, students advance into Molecular Cell Biology and laboratory coursework while selecting Biology electives that provide opportunities to explore specialized scientific interests. In semesters seven and eight, students complete additional Biology electives and the Biology Seminar course, which strengthens scientific communication, critical thinking, and professional preparation. The program also includes several required courses specifically designed for Pre-Pharmacy students to support their preparation for pharmacy school admission and healthcare careers. These courses include Fundamentals of Speech to improve communication skills, Bio-Medical Ethics to develop ethical understanding in healthcare and science, and Introduction to Microeconomics to provide knowledge of economic principles relevant to healthcare systems and pharmacy practice. Students also complete Comparative Anatomy, Biochemistry I, and General Physiology, which provide advanced knowledge of human body systems, biochemical processes, and physiological functions essential for pharmaceutical and medical studies. Through this curriculum, students gain extensive laboratory experience, quantitative reasoning abilities, scientific writing skills, and an in-depth understanding of biological sciences. The program prepares graduates for further education in pharmacy and healthcare professions by combining rigorous coursework, laboratory training, communication development, and interdisciplinary scientific education into a comprehensive academic pathway focused on healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences.
