COURSE CURRICULUM

The BAIS Arts concentration requires students to complete any six courses totaling 18 credits from a variety of creative disciplines, allowing them to design a personalized and flexible academic pathway based on their artistic interests and career goals. Students may select courses from one discipline or combine multiple fields such as Art, Art History, Creative Writing, Theater, Dance, Music, Film, Graphic Design, and Animation. This interdisciplinary structure encourages creativity, collaboration, and the development of both technical and artistic skills across different forms of media and performance. Creative Writing courses introduce students to fiction, poetry, and dramatic writing, helping them strengthen storytelling and communication abilities. Art courses focus on practical studio skills such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics, encouraging hands-on artistic expression. Theater courses explore the history of theater, acting, directing, and playwriting, giving students insight into both performance and production. Dance courses develop movement, rhythm, and performance skills through introductory and specialized dance training. Music courses examine music history and popular culture, including subjects such as film music and influential artists from Beethoven to Beyoncé. Film courses provide practical experience in filmmaking, cinematic storytelling, screenwriting, and post-production techniques, preparing students for careers in media and entertainment industries. Graphic Design courses teach students modern digital design skills using professional tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator while also introducing the history and principles of graphic communication. Animation courses cover character design, game design, motion graphics, and 3D computer modeling, helping students gain technical expertise in rapidly growing digital arts industries. Through this broad range of course options, the BAIS Arts concentration allows students to build a customized educational experience that supports artistic creativity, technical development, and career preparation in creative and multimedia fields.
