COURSE CURRICULUM

The MS in Environmental Science program at DePaul University prepares students with advanced training in key areas of environmental management and sustainability, equipping them with the skills needed to address complex ecological challenges. Students receive focused instruction in ecological restoration, learning how to repair and rehabilitate damaged ecosystems and support natural recovery processes. The program also emphasizes species and landscape conservation, where students develop strategies to protect wildlife and preserve natural habitats in both urban and rural environments. In addition, students study biodiversity management, gaining the ability to assess and maintain healthy ecosystems by understanding the relationships between different species and their environments. Another important area of training is green infrastructure management, which involves designing and implementing sustainable systems that support environmental health while meeting human needs in cities and communities. Students are also prepared for careers in ecological consultancy, where they apply scientific knowledge to advise organizations, governments, and developers on environmentally responsible practices. All courses in the program are offered on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus, with core classes scheduled in the evening to provide flexibility for working professionals and full-time students. The program is designed to be completed in approximately two years, allowing students to gain both theoretical understanding and practical experience in a relatively short time frame.
