COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Animation offers different concentrations that allow students to specialize in specific areas of animation and develop expertise aligned with their career goals. Each concentration is designed to provide both creative and technical training, while also strengthening students’ understanding of visual storytelling, design principles, and production processes. Students can choose from multiple pathways depending on whether they want to focus on filmmaking, design, technical production, or traditional animation techniques.One major concentration is 3D Animation, which is intended for students interested in 3D animated filmmaking. In this track, students learn how to use industry-standard 3D tools and techniques to bring cinematic ideas to life. The curriculum covers key areas such as 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, visual effects, compositing, and rendering. Alongside technical training, students also build a strong foundation in studio art, visual design, art history, and traditional cinematic filmmaking approaches, helping them develop both artistic vision and technical expertise.Another concentration is Motion Graphics, which focuses on creating animated visual content for media such as advertising, film titles, digital platforms, and broadcast design. Storyboarding and Character Design is another pathway that emphasizes visual storytelling, helping students develop characters, plan narratives, and structure animated sequences effectively. The Technical Artist concentration is designed for students who want to bridge the gap between art and technology, focusing on problem-solving, pipeline development, and technical support in animation production. Traditional Animation is also available for students who want to explore hand-drawn animation techniques, stop motion, and foundational animation principles rooted in classic artistic methods.Overall, these concentrations allow students to tailor their education according to their interests and career aspirations.
