COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology program provides students with a broad understanding of human behavior, mental processes, and social interaction through both theoretical study and applied learning. Students choose from six concentrations: Community, Comprehensive Evening Program, Human Development, Human Services, Industrial/Organizational, or Standard, allowing them to tailor their education based on academic interests and career goals. Each concentration emphasizes different aspects of psychology, such as social systems, workplace behavior, human growth, or service-oriented practice.The coursework covers a wide range of topics that explore how individuals think, feel, and behave across different environments. Classes such as Abnormal Psychology examine psychological disorders and patterns of atypical behavior, while Child Psychology and Human Development focus on growth and development across the lifespan. Social Psychology and Psychology of Interpersonal Relationships study how individuals interact and influence one another in social settings. Theories of Personality provides insight into different models used to understand individual differences in behavior and thought.Applied and specialized courses such as Community Psychology and Human Services prepare students for work in social service and community-based settings, while Organizational Behavior and Training and Development in Organizations focus on psychology in workplace and business environments. Physiological Psychology explores the relationship between the brain, body, and behavior, and Alcoholism, Drug Addiction and Recovery addresses addiction and recovery processes from a psychological perspective.Students also gain practical experience through internship programs that place them in human service organizations, community agencies, and industrial or corporate settings. These experiences help students connect academic knowledge with real-world practice.The program also offers combined bachelor’s and master’s degree options in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Psychology with Secondary Education Social Sciences, allowing students to complete advanced degrees in as few as five years. Overall, the curriculum prepares students for careers in counseling, human resources, social services, research, and education by combining theory, applied learning, and professional experience.
