COURSE CURRICULUM

The coursework in the Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (BSPE) program is designed to build a strong foundation in human movement, health, and teaching methods, preparing students for careers in physical education and school-based health instruction. Students begin with core scientific and educational subjects such as Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise, and Human Growth and Development, which help them understand how the human body moves, adapts, and develops across different stages of life. These courses provide essential knowledge about anatomy, biomechanics, fitness, and the physiological effects of physical activity.Students also study Athletic Injuries and Personal and Community Health, which focus on injury prevention, basic treatment strategies, and promoting healthy lifestyles both inside and outside school environments. Fitness and Conditioning and Swimming develop practical skills in physical training and aquatic activities, ensuring future teachers can guide students safely in a variety of physical activities. Dance is also included to broaden movement skills and introduce creative and expressive forms of physical activity.A major component of the program is education-focused coursework such as Physical Education Teaching Methods and Social and Historical Issues in Education. These courses prepare students to design effective lesson plans, manage classrooms, and understand the role of physical education in society and education systems. Students also learn Managerial Concepts and Practices, which support leadership and organizational skills needed for school and program management.Overall, the curriculum combines science-based knowledge, practical physical skills, and teaching strategies to prepare students for real-world classroom environments. With additional resources such as major requirements, class schedules, and department support, students are guided throughout their academic journey.
