COURSE CURRICULUM

Game Programming students at DePaul University have access to a wide range of specialized computing and research facilities through CDM labs, with several spaces directly supporting game development and interactive media work. These include game development and research labs, virtual reality environments, and playtest and usability labs, all of which are designed to give students hands-on experience in building, testing, and refining games in conditions that closely resemble professional studio workflows. In these labs, students can experiment with gameplay mechanics, evaluate user experience, test prototypes, and explore new technologies such as immersive VR systems, helping them translate theoretical knowledge into practical development skills. The availability of these facilities ensures that students are not only learning programming concepts but also actively applying them in iterative design and testing cycles that are essential to modern game production.The program is further strengthened by its faculty, which includes experienced educators and industry professionals, with some serving as adjunct instructors who bring direct real-world experience from the gaming and interactive media industry. This blend of academic and professional expertise ensures that students are taught both foundational theory and up-to-date industry practices.
