COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Performance curriculum is designed to develop advanced technical skill, artistic expression, and professional readiness across a wide range of instruments and voice. Through courses such as Brass Concepts, students refine their understanding of tone production, technique, and stylistic interpretation within brass performance. Chamber Music and Large Ensemble provide essential collaborative experiences, allowing students to perform in small ensembles and larger groups while developing listening skills, coordination, and musical sensitivity. Orchestral Repertoire focuses on the study and performance of major works from the orchestral canon, preparing students for professional ensemble auditions and careers.Additional coursework such as Piano Literature explores important works written for the piano, helping students understand historical styles, interpretation, and performance practice. String Pedagogy provides insight into teaching methods for string instruments, supporting students who may pursue educational or coaching roles. Vocal Coaching focuses on developing vocal technique, interpretation, and performance skills for singers at an advanced level.Students can specialize through a variety of performance concentrations, including Brass, Guitar, Percussion, Piano, String Bass, Violin, Viola, Cello, Voice, and Woodwinds. This allows each student to focus deeply on their chosen instrument while still engaging in broad musical training. The program also provides access to important academic resources such as major requirements, class schedules, and departmental support to guide students throughout their studies.In addition, students have the opportunity to pursue a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree, enabling them to continue their education and further refine their expertise. Overall, the program offers a rigorous and immersive training experience that prepares students for professional careers in performance, ensemble work, and advanced musical study.
