COURSE CURRICULUM

The coursework in the Theatre Technology program is designed to build strong technical, creative, and problem-solving skills needed for careers in theatre production and live entertainment. Students begin with Technical Drawing I & II, where they learn how to create accurate technical drawings and construction plans used to communicate design ideas in professional theatre settings. These skills are essential for translating artistic concepts into buildable structures.Principles of Design introduces the visual and structural foundations of theatre design, helping students understand composition, balance, and functionality in stage environments. Construction and Rigging I & II focuses on the practical skills required to safely build and assemble sets, including carpentry techniques, stage rigging systems, and safe handling of materials and equipment.Production Management Seminar provides an understanding of how theatre productions are organized and managed, including scheduling, budgeting, communication, and coordination across departments. Technical Production Practice I, II, and III offers hands-on experience working on real productions, allowing students to apply technical skills in live theatre environments while collaborating with directors, designers, and other technicians.Design/Technology Electives allow students to explore specialized areas such as lighting, sound, scenic construction, or advanced production techniques, helping them develop individual strengths and career interests. The Internship component provides professional experience in theatres or entertainment organizations, giving students exposure to industry workflows and expectations.Overall, the curriculum combines classroom learning with extensive hands-on training to prepare students for careers in technical theatre, stage production, and entertainment technology.
