COURSE CURRICULUM

The coursework in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Projection Design program is designed to build a strong foundation in both visual design principles and technical production skills for live performance and entertainment environments. Students begin with core classes such as Principles of Design, where they learn essential concepts like composition, color theory, balance, and visual storytelling. These fundamentals help students develop a strong artistic eye that can be applied across different media and production settings.Technical skill development is a key part of the curriculum. Courses like Photoshop for Designers and Animation I introduce students to digital tools used to create and manipulate visual content for projections and multimedia design. Introduction to Vectorworks trains students in industry-standard software used for drafting and designing theatrical spaces, allowing them to plan and visualize projection elements within stage environments.Design Production Practice provides hands-on experience in creating and executing design projects, helping students understand how ideas move from concept to final production. Through Theatre Crew participation, students gain practical exposure to live production environments, learning how different departments collaborate during performances.Students also take part in a Design Internship, which gives them real-world experience working with professionals in theatre, entertainment, or related industries. This internship helps bridge classroom learning with professional practice and strengthens career readiness.Overall, the curriculum blends artistic training, technical instruction, and practical production experience.
