COURSE CURRICULUM

The coursework in this program focuses on building a strong understanding of conflict, justice, and peace-building through both theoretical study and practical application. Students begin by exploring International Conflict and Peace-building, which examines the root causes of global conflicts, including political, economic, social, and cultural factors. This course also introduces strategies used by governments, international organizations, and communities to prevent violence and promote lasting peace. Social Justice and Social Change focuses on issues of inequality, discrimination, and human rights, while also studying the movements and actions that have brought about positive social transformation over time. Another important area is Conflict: Intervention, Negotiation and Advocacy, where students develop practical skills in communication, mediation, and negotiation to resolve disputes at personal, community, and international levels. Human Rights: Promise and Problematics provides a critical understanding of human rights frameworks, exploring both their importance in protecting individuals and the challenges involved in their implementation across different countries and cultures. Social Engagement for Peace and Justice emphasizes active participation in community-based initiatives, encouraging students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world issues through volunteering, internships, or advocacy projects. The Theory and Practice of Nonviolent Action examines historical and contemporary movements that have used peaceful methods to bring about political and social change, highlighting the effectiveness of nonviolent strategies in resolving conflict.
