COURSE CURRICULUM

The Organizational Communication curriculum is designed to help students develop advanced skills in ethical communication, leadership, and workplace interaction across diverse organizational settings. Through courses such as Communication and Organizational Change, students learn how communication strategies influence and support transformation within organizations, including how leaders guide teams through periods of transition. The Dark Side of Organizational Communication explores challenges such as misinformation, power dynamics, and communication breakdowns, helping students critically analyze complex workplace issues.Human Resources Communication focuses on effective communication practices within HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, and organizational policies. Communication Consulting trains students to assess communication systems within organizations and provide strategic recommendations for improvement. Diversity, Leadership, and Team Building emphasizes inclusive communication practices and the development of strong, collaborative teams in multicultural environments.Communication and Corporate Culture examines how organizational values, norms, and behaviors are shaped and reinforced through communication practices. Conflict Management and Negotiation provides students with practical strategies for resolving disputes and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes in professional settings.Students also have the opportunity to pursue a concentration in Latino Media and Communication, which explores cultural representation and communication within Latino communities. Additional academic resources, including major requirements, class schedules, and departmental support, guide students throughout their studies. The program also offers a minor and a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree option, allowing students to further specialize and advance their academic and professional careers in communication-related fields.
