COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Studies program at DePaul University is an interdisciplinary degree that helps students understand and analyze complex global issues from both historical and modern perspectives. The curriculum combines subjects like politics, economics, history, and culture, allowing students to explore how global systems function and how power, inequality, and social structures influence international relationships. Through this approach, students develop strong research and analytical skills while learning to think critically and challenge conventional ideas.Throughout the program, students build essential skills such as critical reading, writing, research, and problem-solving. They learn to identify global challenges at local, regional, and international levels and develop practical solutions, preparing them for careers in fields like international relations, public policy, global business, non-governmental organizations, and diplomacy. A key part of the program is language and cultural immersion, where students study a second language for at least two years and are encouraged to participate in study abroad programs to gain real-world global experience.The program also offers flexible academic pathways, including combined bachelor’s and master’s degree options that can be completed in about five years. Additionally, high-achieving students can pursue an accelerated 3+3 BA/JD program at DePaul University, allowing them to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a law degree in six years. Overall, the program equips students with global awareness, intercultural competence, and strong analytical abilities needed for successful careers in an interconnected world.
