COURSE CURRICULUM

The Communication and Media program at DePaul University offers a dynamic curriculum that blends theory, storytelling, and hands-on media production. Core coursework includes Business and Professional Communication, which builds skills in workplace messaging and presentation, and Public Speaking, which strengthens confidence and clarity in oral communication. Students also explore Media and Cultural Studies to understand how media shapes society, identity, and culture.Creative and production-focused courses such as Digital Cinema Production, Television Production, Editing, and Documentary Studies provide practical experience in creating visual and audio media. Screenwriting and Storytelling and Style in Cinema help students develop narrative techniques for film and television, while building strong creative writing and storytelling abilities.Together, these courses prepare students to think critically and communicate effectively across multiple media platforms, including film, television, journalism, and digital content creation. The program also offers specialized study through the Latino Media & Communication concentration, which focuses on representation, cultural narratives, and media production within Latino communities.
