COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biochemistry program at DePaul University offers a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that integrates chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics to build a strong scientific foundation. Students begin with core subjects such as General Chemistry, Biology, Calculus, and Physics, which provide essential knowledge of scientific principles and quantitative reasoning. As they advance, they explore specialized areas like Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry, gaining a deeper understanding of chemical structures, reactions, and properties.The program also includes Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis, where students learn techniques for measuring and analyzing chemical substances using modern laboratory equipment. Biochemistry and Medicinal Chemistry focus on the chemical processes within living organisms and the development of pharmaceutical compounds. Additionally, Computational Chemistry introduces students to computer-based modeling and simulation of molecular systems, enhancing their analytical and research capabilities.Physical Chemistry further strengthens students’ understanding of thermodynamics, kinetics, and quantum mechanics as they apply to chemical systems.
