COURSE CURRICULUM

The Arabic Studies program at DePaul University offers a rich and interdisciplinary curriculum that combines language learning with cultural, political, and media studies of the Arab world. Coursework includes Cultures of the Middle East and Arab Culture, which introduce students to the traditions, values, and social practices of the region. Middle East Politics provides insight into political systems, conflicts, and global relations affecting the region, while Islam in Global Contexts explores the role of Islam in shaping societies worldwide.Students also examine communication and representation through courses like Media in the Arab World and Media and Cultural Studies, which analyze how media influences public perception and cultural identity. Additionally, Modern Arabic Literature in Translation allows students to engage with important literary works, gaining a deeper understanding of historical and contemporary issues in the Arab world.
