COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) program prepares students for professional careers in public health by providing advanced training in key areas that address population health challenges. Through interdisciplinary study and applied learning, students gain the skills needed to improve health outcomes, develop effective interventions, and address health disparities at local, national, and global levels.Students can choose from several areas of study based on their interests and career goals. These include Animals, People, and Environment, which explores the connection between human and environmental health; Epidemiology, which focuses on the patterns and causes of disease; Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyles, which promotes wellness and disease prevention; Global Health and Health Disparities, which addresses inequities in health access and outcomes; Health Communications, which emphasizes effective public health messaging; and Public Health Nutrition, which focuses on the role of nutrition in population health.Prospective students are encouraged to take next steps by contacting a department representative, reviewing program requirements, and exploring application guidelines through the Colorado School of Public Health website. Detailed coursework and credit requirements are also available through official program resources.Graduate students may pursue employment opportunities such as Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), Graduate Research Assistant (GRA), or Graduate Support Assistant (GSA) positions by working with their advisor and department coordinator. Financial support is available through the CU Denver Anschutz Medical Campus Financial Aid Office, including FAFSA submission, as well as additional departmental funding opportunities.Overall, the MPH program equips students with practical skills, scientific knowledge, and professional experience needed to address complex public health issues and improve community health outcomes.
