Concentrations within this interdisciplinary major allow students to specialize in a focused area of study, gaining deeper knowledge and practical experience beyond the general curriculum. By selecting a concentration, students can tailor their education toward specific career goals in the animal agriculture industry while also building connections with faculty, professionals, mentors, and internship opportunities before graduation. This specialized training helps students develop both academic expertise and real-world skills that are highly valued in the workforce.The Animal Science concentration is a newly introduced pathway, effective from Fall 2025. It is designed for students who want to focus more deeply on the biological, scientific, and production aspects of animal agriculture. While detailed information may be provided by the College of Agricultural Sciences, this track is expected to strengthen students’ understanding of animal health, nutrition, breeding, and management systems, preparing them for technical and science-based roles within the livestock and agricultural sectors.The Livestock Marketing and Trade concentration, also effective from Fall 2025, is another new specialization within the major. This pathway is geared toward students interested in the business, economic, and trade aspects of the livestock industry. It focuses on how livestock products are marketed, sold, and distributed in domestic and international markets. Students pursuing this concentration are likely to gain insight into pricing systems, trade policies, supply chains, and market analysis within the agricultural economy.Overall, these concentrations allow students to align their studies with specific interests in either the scientific or economic dimensions of animal agriculture. Both pathways are designed to prepare graduates for targeted careers in the industry, combining academic learning with practical applications and industry engagement.
