The Horticulture major offers students the opportunity to specialize through focused concentrations that provide deeper knowledge, practical training, and career preparation in different areas of plant science and industry. These concentrations allow students to tailor their studies based on their interests while gaining hands-on experience, professional mentorship, and exposure to real-world horticultural practices before graduation.One concentration is Controlled Environment Horticulture, which focuses on technology-based plant production systems in protected environments such as greenhouses and indoor facilities. Students learn how to manage controlled growing conditions to optimize plant development for both ornamental and food crops. This includes hands-on experience with environmental controls, irrigation systems, and production techniques that support efficient and sustainable plant cultivation in modern agricultural settings.The Horticultural Food Crops concentration emphasizes the production of fruits and vegetables.
