The Environmental Horticulture major offers several concentrations that allow students to specialize in specific areas of interest while gaining deeper knowledge and hands-on experience. These concentrations help students develop focused skills, build professional networks, and prepare for careers in different segments of the horticulture and landscape industry.The Landscape Design and Contracting concentration prepares students for careers in the design-build profession. Students learn how to plan, design, and execute projects for residential, commercial, and public properties. This pathway emphasizes both creative design and practical construction skills, enabling graduates to transform outdoor spaces into functional and visually appealing environments.The Turf Management concentration focuses on the establishment and maintenance of grassy areas across a range of settings. Students gain training in managing sod production as well as maintaining private and public grounds such as sports fields, parks, and recreational spaces. This concentration emphasizes plant health, soil management, and sustainable maintenance practices.The Nursery and Landscape Management concentration centers on plant cultivation and business operations within the horticulture industry. Students learn skills needed to start and manage nurseries, garden centers, arboriculture services, or landscape management companies.
