COURSE CURRICULUM

Graduates of the Early Childhood Education major are well-prepared for a variety of careers working with young children from preschool through third grade. The program equips students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to support early learning and development, while also preparing them to apply for state licensure in early childhood education and the Large Center Childcare Director Qualification in Colorado. Many graduates further enhance their career opportunities by pursuing additional teaching endorsements or advanced degrees.Career options in this field are diverse and focus on education, care, and child development. Graduates may become preschool to grade 3 teachers, working directly in classrooms to support children’s growth and learning. Others may work as Head Start teachers or directors, helping lead early childhood programs that serve communities in need. Some choose entrepreneurial paths, such as owning or operating childcare businesses or preschool facilities.Additional career opportunities include working as foster care professionals, supporting children in transitional or vulnerable situations, or as international adoption specialists, helping families navigate the adoption process. Graduates may also pursue roles such as recreational therapists, using structured activities to support children’s physical and emotional well-being. Overall, the degree provides a strong foundation for meaningful careers that positively impact children, families, and communities.
