The Anthropology major offers concentrations that allow students to specialize in particular areas of interest while gaining deeper knowledge and practical experience. By choosing a concentration, students can explore a focused aspect of anthropology while still benefiting from the discipline’s broad and holistic perspective.One concentration is Archaeology, which centers on the study of past human societies and their activities across different regions, including the Americas and beyond. Students learn how to analyze material remains such as artifacts and sites to understand how people lived and how their cultures connect to present-day societies. Another concentration is Biological Anthropology, which focuses on human biological variation and adaptation. This area integrates knowledge from both natural and social sciences, including biology, anatomy, genetics, zoology, chemistry, and forensic science, helping students understand the physical aspects of human evolution and diversity.The Cultural Anthropology concentration explores the experiences, beliefs, and practices of contemporary cultural communities. Students examine how different societies function, how cultures develop and change, and how people interact within diverse social systems.
