The B.F.A. in Art offers a wide range of concentrations that allow students to specialize in specific artistic disciplines while gaining in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience. By choosing a concentration, students can focus on their interests while also benefiting from mentorship, collaboration, and real-world artistic exploration.The Art Education concentration prepares students to become artist-teachers, combining studio practice with training to teach art at the K-12 level while working with schools and community programs. Drawing focuses on building strong observational and perception skills, exploring elements such as line, form, and texture to develop personal expression. Electronic Art introduces students to digital and new media practices, including video, animation, gaming, and software-based art, supported by an understanding of contemporary technology and media.Fibers emphasizes working with textiles through weaving and surface design, blending traditional craft with digital innovation. Graphic Design develops skills in visual communication, typography, and digital and print media, preparing students for professional design careers. Metalsmithing explores both traditional and modern techniques to create unique works using metal. Painting encourages both an understanding of historical practices and experimentation with modern techniques and materials.Photo Image Making focuses on photography, teaching technical skills, visual storytelling, and connections to contemporary art. Pottery covers ceramic techniques such as wheel throwing and glazing, combining technical precision with artistic expression.
