Admission to the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program is based on a comprehensive and holistic evaluation of each applicant’s academic background, professional experience, and overall potential for success in the field of accountancy. In addition to meeting general university admission requirements, applicants must fulfill several specific criteria to be considered for the program.Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. However, candidates with a GPA of at least 2.5 may still be considered if they possess a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or have at least one year of relevant professional experience in accounting or a related field. This flexible approach allows individuals with strong practical experience to be evaluated alongside those with higher academic performance.A key component of the application is the statement of purpose, which should be 500–750 words and clearly outline the applicant’s career goals and how the MSA program will help achieve them. Applicants must also submit a current resume highlighting their academic background, work experience, internships, skills, and extracurricular activities. While a letter of recommendation is optional, it is strongly encouraged, particularly for applicants with non-accounting backgrounds or lower GPAs, as it can strengthen the application.Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions are required to verify academic history. Notably, standardized tests such as the GMAT or GRE are not required for admission. International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through exams like TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo unless they meet specific exemption criteria.Additionally, applicants must demonstrate prior completion or competency in prerequisite courses, including introductory and intermediate accounting and business law.
