COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Computational Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence requires a total of 61 units within the major, contributing to the 120 units needed for graduation. The lower-division curriculum (28 units) provides foundational knowledge in linguistics, computer science, mathematics, and data analytics. Core courses include Introduction to Linguistics, Programming Basics, Computer Science I and II, Discrete Mathematics, Statistics with Applications, Calculus I, and Big Data Analytics, equipping students with the essential computational and analytical skills needed for the field.The upper-division courses (24 units) focus on advanced topics in linguistics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Key courses include English Grammar, Advanced Linguistic Analysis, Introduction to Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing for Computational Linguistics, Grammar and Corpus Linguistics, Machine Learning, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and AI Ethics. These courses integrate linguistic theory with practical computational techniques, preparing students to develop and analyze AI-driven language technologies.In addition, students select 9 units of electives to tailor their program toward specialized interests.
