COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy requires 83 units within the major, contributing to the 120 total units needed for graduation. The program combines music training, psychology, biology, and clinical practice to prepare students for professional roles in therapeutic settings. Students complete foundational coursework in music theory, musicianship, piano proficiency, and electronic music production, along with applied study on a primary instrument. Performance experience is also required through participation in ensembles such as choir, orchestra, or band, ensuring the development of strong musical skills.In addition to musical training, the curriculum emphasizes specialized music therapy courses. Students take classes in music therapy orientation, functional skills, improvisation, psychology of music, and clinical principles. They also study music therapy applications for both adults and children, gaining insight into working with diverse populations. Supporting coursework in psychology, including introductory and abnormal psychology, and biology helps students understand human behavior and physiological aspects relevant to therapy.
