COURSE CURRICULUM

The music production degree program requires a minimum of 45 credits, with at least 23 credits completed at the upper-division level. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both the technical and creative aspects of music production. Students begin with introductory courses such as Introduction to Music Production, Applied Music Lessons, Music Theory, Musicianship Skills, and Keyboard Harmony, which establish essential skills in music understanding and performance. As they advance, students take courses like Music Production II, Studio Recording I, and Advanced Music Production, which focus on hands-on experience with professional equipment and software used in the industry. The program culminates with a Music Production Capstone course that allows students to demonstrate their comprehensive knowledge and skills in music production through a final project. Additionally, students participate in a Historical Seminar that covers the history and development of film music, providing a broader cultural context for their studies.Beyond the core requirements, students are required to take at least 10 credits of upper-division electives to tailor their education to specific interests and career goals. These electives include options such as Songwriting Lab, Studio Recording II, Mixing and Signal Processing, Analog Console Mixing, and Music Publishing and Distribution.
