COURSE CURRICULUM

Bentley University’s Master’s in Accounting (MSA) program offers a modern, flexible curriculum designed to prepare students for a rapidly evolving accounting profession. The program features a STEM-designated curriculum aligned with the DHS STEM code list and supports preparation for the CPA exam as well as CIA, CMA, and CISA certifications. Full-time students can complete the program in eleven months, while part-time students generally finish within two to five years. The program requires a minimum of ten courses, including foundation, required, and elective courses, with all applicants evaluated for foundation waivers. Core foundation courses include Managerial Statistics and Accounting for Decision Making, while required courses cover Financial Accounting, Business Process and Controls Assessment, Ethics, Judgment and Decision Making, and Data Analytics for AccountingThe program offers five concentrations that allow students to tailor their learning to specific career goals. The Assurance concentration focuses on enhancing transparency and credibility in financial reporting through skills in financial statement auditing, information technology auditing, internal auditing, and tax compliance. The Advisory concentration emphasizes guiding business decisions through risk advisory, forensic accounting, performance evaluation, and corporate financial reporting. Corporate Financial Reporting equips students with expertise in preparing financial statements, SEC reporting, and analyzing key financial data to support strategic decision-making. The Analytics concentration addresses the high demand for data-driven accounting professionals, providing advanced skills in auditing, accounting analytics, predictive modeling, data-driven development with Python, and managing with analytics. Finally, the Tax concentration, launching in January 2025, focuses on federal and multi-jurisdictional taxation, taxation of corporations and shareholders, and professional tax practice to prepare graduates for the complex tax environments in global business.With its integration of advanced analytics, technology, and industry partnerships, Bentley’s MSA provides students with the technical skills, practical knowledge, and specialized expertise needed to succeed in diverse accounting roles.
