COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics major at Bellarmine University provides a comprehensive four-year curriculum designed to develop strong analytical and economic reasoning skills grounded in a liberal arts education. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge with courses such as Principles of Macroeconomics and Microeconomics, Business Calculus or Calculus I, and general education requirements including English Composition, History, Philosophy, and Natural Science. The second year deepens this foundation with Intermediate Microeconomic and Macroeconomic Theory, Elementary Statistics or Probability and Mathematical Statistics II, and Theology, alongside literature and elective courses. By the third year, students engage in advanced topics like International Trade and Finance and continue fulfilling philosophy/theology, fine arts, and general education requirements, while completing economics electives to broaden their expertise. The final year focuses on specialized courses such as Econometrics and culminates with the Senior Comprehensive Exam in Economics, supported by a senior seminar and additional electives to enhance the student’s breadth of knowledge. Throughout the program, students take a total of three economics electives that allow for customization of their degree based on interests and career goals.
