COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bellarmine University accounting program spans four years and includes 120 credit hours, blending core accounting coursework with general education and elective requirements. In Year 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Principles of Financial and Managerial Accounting, Introduction to Academic Writing, macroeconomics, business calculus or calculus, and general education in history, science, and first-year experience seminars. Year 2 deepens students’ understanding with Intermediate Accounting I and II, microeconomics, business law, statistics, marketing, public speaking or business communication, and a literature requirement. In Year 3, students take specialized accounting courses like Taxation I and II, Managerial Accounting, and may choose between Management Science or Econometrics. Additional coursework includes Principles of Management, Introduction to Philosophy, an elective in Fine or Performing Arts, and an Intrinsic Dignity and Inclusivity course. Year 4 focuses on advanced topics with courses such as Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Business Finance, and options in higher-level Philosophy or Theology. In the final semester, students choose between advanced auditing, data analytics, forensics, or an internship, and complete the Senior Comprehensive Exam in Business Administration. They also take Business Policy, the Merici Community Engaged Seminar as a senior capstone, and two general electives. The curriculum not only prepares students for careers in accounting but also meets the 150-hour CPA exam eligibility requirement through options like electives, dual majors, or internships, ensuring a well-rounded academic and professional foundation.
