COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiology program requires students to complete 31 credit hours of advanced coursework designed to deepen their understanding of human movement, performance, and rehabilitation. Core courses include KN 519 Applied Biomechanics, which explores the mechanical principles of movement; KN 520 Environmental Physiology, examining the body’s responses to various environmental stressors; and KN 576 Motor Performance, focusing on the development and optimization of motor skills. KN 581 Exercising Muscle provides in-depth study of muscle function during physical activity, while KN 618 Clinical Kinesiology applies anatomical and physiological knowledge to clinical and therapeutic settings. Evidence-based practices are emphasized in KN 627 Evidence-Based Recovery for Performance, preparing students to design effective recovery and performance strategies. KN 639 Advanced Sport Psychology and KN 652 Mental Performance Coaching develop students’ skills in understanding and enhancing psychological factors in sport and exercise. KN 643 Measurement & Evaluation trains students in assessing performance outcomes and interpreting data for applied settings. KN 665 Science of Strength Training examines strength development principles and programming strategies, while KN 686 Professional Portfolio allows students to synthesize their learning, demonstrate competencies, and prepare for professional careers or graduate study. Together, these courses integrate theory, research, and applied practice to prepare students for advanced roles in exercise science, sports performance, rehabilitation, and related fields.
