COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business major within the 120-credit hour Business Administration, B.S. degree at Avila University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of global business practices while developing essential skills for leadership and management in international contexts. Students complete core liberal arts courses, including mathematics and social sciences, with MA 120 College Algebra preferred and EC 202 Principles of Microeconomics required, ensuring a solid analytical foundation. The School of Business core requirements, totaling 36 credit hours, include business composition, accounting, legal aspects, business communications, finance, management, marketing, statistical and quantitative analysis, and a business capstone course, all designed to develop critical thinking, decision-making, and professional competencies. The International Business major requirements, ranging from 18 to 24 credit hours, include cost accounting, legal aspects of business or employment law, international economics, international finance, international management, and international marketing, providing students with specialized knowledge for operating in global markets. Additionally, students must demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity and literacy through coursework in a foreign language, proficiency in a native language other than English, a semester abroad, or an international internship. To fulfill the 120-credit requirement, students also complete a minimum of 19 elective credit hours, allowing flexibility to tailor their education to personal and professional interests while preparing for careers in international business, trade, and global management.
