COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Avila University requires completion of a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with a strong foundation in liberal arts, business principles, and specialized accounting knowledge. The Core Curriculum ranges from 38 to 51 credit hours and includes essential courses in mathematics, such as MA 120 College Algebra, and social sciences, including EC 202 Principles of Microeconomics, ensuring students develop analytical and critical thinking skills. The School of Business core requirements, totaling 36 credit hours, cover business composition through courses like EN 112, EN 210, or EN 213, as well as accounting principles with AC 201 and AC 202, legal aspects of business, business communications, business capstone, economics, statistics, quantitative analysis, finance, management, strategic management, and marketing, providing a well-rounded business education. The Accounting major requires 21 credit hours, including advanced courses in cost accounting, intermediate accounting I and II, accounting information systems, auditing, corporate taxation, and advanced cost accounting, ensuring students gain technical expertise in accounting practices. A minimum of 19 elective credit hours allows students to tailor their education to specific interests, while the technology requirement ensures computer competency is demonstrated through EC 240 and EC 341.
