COURSE CURRICULUM

The Communication Disorders curriculum at Auburn University at Montgomery in Montgomery includes a wide range of courses that focus on the scientific study of speech, language, and hearing as well as the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders. Subjects such as Introduction to Audiology, Aural Rehabilitation, Pediatric Audiology, and Advanced Practices in Audiology teach students how hearing works and how hearing disorders can be evaluated and managed. Students also study neurophysiological aspects of communication disorders, which explain how the brain and nervous system control speech, language, and hearing processes. Additional courses such as Language and Cognition, Dysphagia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Cognitive Communication Disorders provide knowledge about specialized areas within communication sciences and clinical practice.Practical training is an important part of the program.
