Arizona State University (ASU) is a public research university in Tempe, Arizona, founded in 1885 as the Territorial Normal School. It has grown into one of the largest public universities in the U.S. by enrollment, with over 183,000 students across four campuses and online programs. ASU offers more than 400 undergraduate and 450 graduate degree programs across 16 colleges and over 170 interdisciplinary centers. The university is known for its strong research initiatives, including the Biodesign Institute and the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability. It has over 5,000 faculty members, including Nobel laureates and distinguished scholars.ASU has undergone significant expansions since its early years, evolving from a teacher-training school to a major research university. In 1958, it became Arizona State University. Since 2002, ASU has focused on innovation, research, and accessibility, expanding campuses, research funding, and faculty.
