COURSE CURRICULUM

The MAT program requires 33 credit hours, including core courses such as Foundations of Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Psychology, and Methods of Teaching in specific subject areas. Students choose between elementary or secondary education tracks. The curriculum includes specialized courses like Teaching Literacy, Classroom Management, and Assessment Strategies. A significant component is the student teaching internship, where candidates apply learned skills in real classroom environments under supervision. Additional requirements may include electives in special education or ESL. The program culminates in a capstone project or portfolio demonstrating teaching competency.
