COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Spanish requires 120 credits total, with 30 credits in Spanish major courses. Core courses include Intermediate Spanish, Spanish Conversation, Advanced Grammar and Composition, Spanish Literature Survey, Latin American Literature, and Cultural Studies in Hispanic Countries. Electives may cover topics like Spanish for Business, Translation Techniques, or Hispanic Cinema. Students must complete general education requirements in humanities, social sciences, and sciences. A capstone project or thesis is required in the senior year, involving research on a Spanish-language topic. Study abroad is encouraged, with credits transferable towards the major. Proficiency exams assess language skills at various stages.
