COURSE CURRICULUM

The Paramedic Science (Pre-Registration) MSc is structured around modules that integrate theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development to prepare students for a career as an HCPC registered paramedic. The program begins with Transition to Paramedic Practice, which introduces students to the principles, responsibilities, and professional standards of paramedic work. Clinical Care in Paramedic Practice and Principles of Paramedic Practice develop core clinical competencies, including patient assessment, treatment, and management in a variety of pre-hospital settings. Practice Education 1 and 2 provide extensive hands-on experience, allowing students to apply their learning under supervision in real-world clinical environments, building confidence and practical expertise. Concepts of Physical and Mental Health in Paramedic Practice explores the integration of physical and mental health care, ensuring students are equipped to respond holistically to patient needs. Urgent and Primary Care for Paramedic Practice focuses on managing patients with acute and urgent conditions, developing decision-making and problem-solving skills in complex scenarios. The program culminates in Paramedic Research in Action (Dissertation), where students conduct independent research to investigate contemporary issues in paramedic practice, applying evidence-based approaches to enhance patient care. Collectively, these modules ensure graduates are competent, reflective, and ready to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care in diverse emergency healthcare settings.
