COURSE CURRICULUM

The Public Health MSc is structured around modules that provide a comprehensive foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of public health. Health Promotion: Principles and Practice introduces students to strategies for improving health outcomes at individual, community, and population levels, emphasising preventive approaches and behaviour change. Healthcare Analytics equips students with the skills to collect, analyse, and interpret health data, enabling evidence-based decision-making and policy development. Health Economics explores the allocation of healthcare resources, cost-effectiveness, and economic evaluation of public health interventions. Introduction to Epidemiology provides essential knowledge of the methods used to study disease patterns, risk factors, and the impact of interventions on populations. Public Health for an Ageing Population focuses on the unique health challenges and service needs of older adults, preparing students to design effective strategies to support healthy ageing. Sexual and Reproductive Health examines the physical, social, and policy dimensions of reproductive health, highlighting global and local considerations. The Applied Research Project allows students to undertake an independent investigation, applying research skills and theoretical knowledge to a practical public health issue. Together, these modules equip graduates with the analytical, research, and professional skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate public health strategies, preparing them for careers in policy, research, consultancy, and public health leadership across diverse healthcare contexts.
