COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music MA is structured around modules that support the development of both creative and professional expertise in music. Methods of Reflective Practice encourages students to critically evaluate their own work, fostering self-awareness, analytical thinking, and the ability to articulate creative decisions. Music Creative Practice focuses on developing technical and artistic skills across performance, composition, facilitation, and recording, allowing students to refine their individual musical voice and explore new approaches. Creative Entrepreneurship introduces the business and professional aspects of a music career, including project management, audience engagement, and strategies for developing sustainable creative practice. Independent Research equips students with the skills to investigate topics of personal or professional interest in depth, developing critical thinking, methodological rigor, and the ability to integrate theory and practice. The Music Independent Project serves as the culmination of the program, enabling students to conceive, develop, and deliver a substantial project that demonstrates both artistic excellence and professional competence. Together, these modules balance creative exploration with reflective and professional practice, ensuring that graduates emerge with a strong portfolio of work, a clear professional identity, and the skills necessary to succeed as performers, composers, educators, or creative entrepreneurs.
