COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Politics and Security MA is structured around modules that explore the key theories, challenges, and debates shaping global affairs. Theory and Methods in International Relations introduces students to the major analytical frameworks and research approaches used to study global politics. New Security Challenges in a Multi-Polar World examines contemporary threats such as terrorism, cyber warfare, climate change, and global power shifts, helping students understand the evolving nature of international security. Culture, Women, and International Politics highlights the role of gender, identity, and cultural dynamics in shaping political and security outcomes. Diplomacy in the United Nations focuses on the principles and practice of multilateral diplomacy, offering insights into how states and organisations negotiate and cooperate on the global stage. Emerging Issues in International Relations explores current and future geopolitical challenges, while Religion and Peacebuilding investigates how faith-based perspectives can contribute to conflict resolution and peace efforts. Environmental Policy examines the political dimensions of global environmental issues, including sustainability and international cooperation. The program culminates in a Dissertation, where students conduct independent research on a topic of their choice, demonstrating advanced analytical and critical thinking skills. Collectively, these modules prepare students for impactful careers in international politics, diplomacy, and global policy analysis.
