COURSE CURRICULUM

The Education MA equips students with the skills and knowledge to critically engage with contemporary issues in education at global, national, and local levels. The course provides a strong foundation in research through the Methods of Enquiry module, enabling students to design, conduct, and analyse studies that inform educational practice and policy. Through the Contemporary Issues module, students explore pressing educational challenges, considering social, cultural, and political factors that shape learning and teaching. Critical Approaches to Education encourages reflection on theoretical frameworks and methodologies, fostering analytical thinking and the ability to question assumptions in policy and practice. Evaluating Educational Leadership allows students to examine leadership styles, organisational effectiveness, and the impact of management on educational outcomes, linking theory to practical contexts. The program culminates in a Dissertation or Professional Project, where students apply their learning to an in-depth investigation or practical project, demonstrating the ability to synthesise knowledge, conduct rigorous research, and contribute meaningfully to educational development. Throughout the course, students engage with an inclusive and diverse academic community, enhancing collaboration and broadening perspectives. By the end of the MA, graduates will be equipped to critically assess educational systems, influence policy and practice, and pursue professional or academic advancement within education and related fields.
