COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports and Exercise Therapy BSc (Hons) degree provides a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice to prepare students for a career in sports therapy and rehabilitation. In the first year, students build foundational understanding through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology for Sport and Exercise, Clinical Musculoskeletal Anatomy, and Kinesiology, alongside an introduction to research methods and strength and conditioning principles. The second year develops practical expertise, focusing on injury assessment, trauma management, rehabilitation, and return-to-sport strategies. Students also study joint treatment and research design while completing their first professional placement to apply learning in real-world settings. In the final year, the course advances clinical and analytical skills through modules like Vertebral Joint Assessment, Sports Injury Prevention, and Contemporary Sport and Exercise Therapy Practice. Students complete a major research project and a second professional placement to consolidate their professional competence. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on understanding injury mechanisms, evidence-based practice, and athlete care from prevention to full recovery. By graduation, students are equipped with the practical skills, clinical confidence, and scientific knowledge required to assess, treat, and rehabilitate athletes effectively, preparing them for professional practice or further study in sports therapy and rehabilitation science.
