COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) degree provides a comprehensive understanding of how scientific principles can be applied to enhance athletic performance, promote physical health, and improve wellbeing. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Biomechanics, and Research Methods, gaining insight into how the body and mind respond to exercise. The second year builds on this by focusing on areas like Exercise and Physical Activity for Health, Physiology of Training, Sports Biomechanics, and Sport in Society, alongside a professional placement that provides valuable industry experience. Students also strengthen their research and analytical skills to prepare for independent study. In the final year, the course advances into specialized topics including Advanced Sports Biomechanics, Exercise, Health and Disease, and Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology. The degree culminates with a research paper, allowing students to explore an area of personal or professional interest in depth. By integrating scientific theory with practical application, the program prepares graduates for careers in sport performance, fitness, health promotion, or postgraduate research.
