COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology BSc (Hons) degree provides a thorough exploration of the human mind, brain, and behaviour, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical research skills. In the first year, students study the biological bases of behaviour, differential psychology, cognition and development, and psychology at work, alongside foundational research training through two research modules. Professional development and participation are also introduced to prepare students for active engagement in the field. The second year builds on this foundation with in-depth study of developmental psychology, brain and behaviour, social psychology, and applying psychology to work contexts, while advancing research skills through two additional psychological research modules. Students continue developing professional competencies through ongoing participation and practice. In the third year, students focus on specialised topics and independent research, completing a research paper and engaging with advanced modules in neuropsychology, interactional psychology, clinical and health psychology, lifespan and adolescent development, memory improvement, and innovative areas such as virtual reality and human behaviour. Critical approaches to mental health, mind mapping, and applied data analysis provide students with opportunities to synthesise knowledge and practical skills. Across all three years, students gain experience in designing studies, analysing data, and applying psychological concepts to real-world contexts, preparing them for graduate roles, further professional training, or research-focused careers in psychology and allied disciplines.
