COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree is structured to develop students’ technical expertise, clinical competence, and professional skills across three years of study. In the first year, students build a foundation in imaging science and clinical practice through modules such as Physical Principles, Instrumentation and Safety of Imaging Modalities, Cross-sectional Anatomy and Pathophysiology, Essentials of Clinical Imaging in Practice 1 and 2, and Clinical Practice 1. These modules introduce the principles of medical imaging, patient safety, and essential clinical skills. The second year focuses on advancing both theoretical knowledge and practical application with modules including Medical Imaging Processes, Research and Statistics in Diagnostic Imaging, Essentials of Clinical Imaging in Practice 3 and 4, Informatics and Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging, and Clinical Practice 2. Students gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies and develop analytical and research skills relevant to healthcare practice. In the final year, students consolidate their learning and specialise through modules such as Abdominal Ultrasound Imaging, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Ultrasound Imaging, Leadership and Management in Professional Practice, Clinical Practice 3, and the Dissertation. The program equips graduates with the knowledge, practical experience, and professional competencies required to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services, adapt to innovations in healthcare technology, and pursue registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer with the Health and Care Professions Council.
