COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security degree is structured to develop students’ technical expertise, practical skills, and industry knowledge over three years. In the first year, students gain foundational understanding through modules such as Introduction to Programming, Programming for the Web, Maths and Problem Solving, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, and Security Systems and Products. These modules build essential coding, problem-solving, and system-level knowledge while introducing core concepts in cyber security. The second year focuses on more advanced topics, including Systems Programming and Scripting, Database Systems, Computer Networks, Digital Forensics, Information Security and Risk Management, and Professional and Research Practices. These modules provide hands-on experience and professional insight into securing systems, investigating cyber incidents, and managing digital risks. In the final year, students consolidate and apply their knowledge through advanced modules such as The Internet of Things, Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessment, Software and Web Security, Privacy and Data Protection, Network Security Architecture and Operations, Cloud Computing Security and Compliance, Advanced Web Development, and the Dissertation. This combination of theoretical study, practical application, and research prepares graduates with the technical proficiency, analytical skills, and professional awareness needed to pursue careers in cyber security, ethical hacking, IT security management, and related fields, as well as opportunities for further study and industry certifications.
