COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree is structured to develop students’ technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and practical experience across three years of study. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in programming, mathematics, and software development through modules such as Introduction to Programming, Programming for the Web, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, and Security Systems and Products. These modules establish essential coding skills, computational thinking, and an understanding of computer systems. In the second year, the focus expands to advanced programming, database systems, computer networks, and artificial intelligence, alongside professional and research practices that prepare students for real-world applications. Programming 03 and 04 modules, combined with AI and database studies, enhance problem-solving and algorithmic thinking, while computer networks provide insight into communication systems. The third year allows students to specialise and apply their knowledge through modules such as Data Analytics, Immersive Computing, the Internet of Things, Privacy and Data Protection, Network Security Architecture, Advanced Web Development, Cloud Computing Security, and Smartphone App Design and Development. A Dissertation provides an opportunity for independent research and project work. Overall, the degree equips graduates with a comprehensive understanding of computer science, preparing them for careers in software development, cybersecurity, data analysis, and emerging technology sectors.
