COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Journalism BA (Hons) degree provides a comprehensive and practical approach to preparing students for careers in sports media. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in writing sports news and features, producing content for sound and vision media, understanding media contexts, and exploring media law and digital news platforms. This builds the essential knowledge required to navigate the modern media landscape. The second year focuses on applying these skills in specific sports journalism contexts, including sports radio, television newsdays, magazine production, public relations, and examining the social impact of sports media. This allows students to gain practical experience while exploring the role of journalism in shaping public perception and sporting culture. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a research project, work placements, and practical newsroom experience, culminating in a final project that demonstrates their journalistic abilities. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on storytelling, ethical reporting, multimedia production, and digital communication.
