COURSE CURRICULUM

The Politics and International Relations BA (Hons) program provides a thorough exploration of political systems, international relations, and global issues, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and engage with the complex world of politics. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in politics and international relations, examining British politics, global political structures, sustainable development, and international security. The second year expands this understanding through modules on political theory and practice, democracies, international political economy, area studies, practical politics, and elections, enabling students to analyse both domestic and global political processes with depth and precision. The third year emphasizes advanced analysis and independent research, with students undertaking a dissertation while exploring specialized topics such as authoritarianism, global governance, politics and religion in the Middle East, global health, and cultural conflicts in politics, including media, ideology, and hegemony. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, analytical, and research skills, allowing them to evaluate complex political phenomena and communicate their insights effectively. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications, the course prepares graduates for careers in government, international organizations, policy analysis, diplomacy, and other fields requiring an in-depth understanding of political dynamics and global relations.
